GETTING THERE

Neuschwanstein Castle

Here’s how to get to Neuschwanstein Castle:

By car or bus:

  • Take the A7 motorway (Ulm – Kempten – Füssen). From Füssen take the B17 state road in the direction of Schwangau; after crossing the village take a right towards Hohenschwangau.
  • Or, take the A7 motorway – exit Kempten – continue on the B12 state road to Marktoberdorf. On the B16 to Roßhaupten – OAL I to Buching – then the B17 to Schwangau and Hohenschwangau.

Only paid parking is available in Hohenschwangau.

By public transport:

  • With the German Railways (www.bahn.com) to Füssen, then by bus to the stop: “Hohenschwangau Neuschwanstein Castles, Schwangau”. Bus timetables can be consulted on the website: www.rvo-bus.de.

Walking:

  • You can reach the Castle on foot in about 30-40 minutes from the ticket office (about 1.5 km, with a considerable slope).

With horse-drawn carriages:

  • Departure: Hotel Müller, Alpseestrasse, Hohenschwangau. Rates: ascent 8,- Euro / descent 4,- Euro (updated 1 August 2022). Tickets are on sale directly at the carriage parking point.

By shuttle bus:

  • Departure: car park P4. Rates: ascent 3,- Euro / descent 2,- Euro / Ascent and descent 3,50 Euro (updated to May 2023). Tickets can be bought on the bus.
